Interesting find in the desert. Rusty old cans nearly gone except for the ends. The end caps are possibly made of aluminum and will take many more years to erode away than the cans. Seems like the right place to put the message.
While vacationing in Nevada recently, I attended a light painting workshop with Dave Black. After some instruction and guidance, we were set loose to do our own thing. This is one of the images I came up with. The truck and foreground were lit with a pen light flashlight during a 15 second time exposure. Post processing in Light Room and Photoshop.
Anhinga Sunning
I took a break from the winter weather to attend the Birds of a Feather birding festival in Palm Coast, Florida. It was a great three days of birding and photography. I participated in three full-day outings and the evening event featuring Moose Peterson. There was fog, overcast, and sunny periods, each presenting a birding and photography challenge. This Anhinga was taking advantage of a sunny period to dry off and warm up after diving for a meal.
An annual favorite for me is a trip to the National Botanical Garden in Washington, DC. at Christmas. Christmas is when a large garden railroad is installed. There are seven lines carrying steam, diesel and electric trains. Bridges and tunnels add lots of interest to the display. This year, the 100th anniversary of the National Park service was celebrated with many park scenes depicted.
Part of my joy with the holidays is seeing and capturing the Christmas light displays. I live in an area with many public displays such as the National Zoo, Meadowlark park, Bull Run park, the National Mall, etc. I got to visit most of these this year and have a pile of nice shots. When choosing images to post, it’s hard to single out one or two to share. The above image depicts a strawberry patch with a burst of fireworks. The image of the bears just makes me smile.
