A Lotus Blossom catching some rays at the Kenilworth Gardens
New to me is this ground cover thistle. A pretty cool way to cover over a bare area in the garden. The stems are about 4 inches high keeping the blooms pretty close to the ground. A nice effect seeing dozens of these in the garden.
The Master Gardener’s Demo Garden in Leesburg offers opportunities to view and photograph many varieties of plants and flowers. Butterflies and birds are also often visitors to the garden.
Spring time in Washington is famous for flowering cherry trees. Not to be outdone though are the other flowering trees such as these magnolias. This was a good exercise for my new 15-30 mm lens. I feel it passed.
Umbrella, wide-brim hat, yoga mat, water-resistant camera case, and a rainy day. Now and then the sky would lighten and make interesting highlights on the wet flowers. I crawled along the garden paths for five hours getting a few pictures I really like. It was plenty fun just spying on the frogs, praying mantis, watching the lotus leaves spill the rain out, and talking to the park ranger. Rainy day fun!
